UALR recently held its annual “Think Pink” basketball game on February the 22nd, in support of the Kay Yow Foundation for breast cancer research, at the Jack Stephens center. QBOT was once again proud to sponsor the event.
Kay Yow, former head coach of North Carolina State University’s women’s basketball team, lost her 22-year battle with breast cancer in January of 2009. The Kay Yow Cancer Fund was created, by Kay, to raise money for cutting edge cancer research while providing patients access to both experimental drugs and clinical trials.
Saturday’s turnout was amazing and QBOT was there to support. Signature koozies, 250 to be exact, were allocated as giveaways to fans at arrival, and 100 pink QBOT t-shirts were enthusiastically given to those who both downloaded the QBOT app and “loved” UALR Athletics.
The game was hard fought for the Lady Trojans, against UT Arlington, but victory was theirs in the end with a 69-60 win. Because the turnout and outcome was great the evening was a success for basketball and app enthusiast alike.
Proceeds from the game subsidize the research needed to find cures for women’s cancers, helping to unify individuals for a common cause.
Sounds like a Q-win Q-win situation to me.
